General Forum Getting Scary?

Has anyone else been really bugged out by some of the posts on the OH General Forum lately?  Specifically the ones warning about various complications and others posting about regretting having surgery?  I'm only one month out, still in the healing stages and while I appreciate being well informed; I feel some of the posts are generated just to draw attention or create a sensation.  Thoughts?

I try to stay away from the main forum... its full of bantering and craziness, lol.  There is a forum for the regrets and complications as well as the rants/raves.  I appreciate the main forum as a huge information highway, but enjoy the intimacy of the smaller forums.

The more things the change, the more they're still the same.

I hear ya
but for starters, it's the internet...
with OH, as scary as it is, it's good to know that with our WLS, a lot CAN go wrong....granted, if you do your research and scour a lot of these ppl's posts, you'll find that the "complications and regrets" are a result of NON COMPLIANCE!!
"I had my RNY three months ago and I'm already stalled...I so regret this!!!...Oh, and WHY are cookies and ice cream the only thing that seems to go down well?...nobody told me it would be this HAAAARRRRD!"
um yea...

so sift through the info carefully...take what applies to you and laugh at the expense of the rest.
oh...and the "block" button is amazing for eliminating the ranting of some of the more militant morons...just look them up on the "revisions (failure) forums" in a year...

I stay far far away from the General Forums as much as possible. Also, I'm always averse to posting on there because it seems like when people do, they almost always get flamed.

For every one person that regrets having their surgery, you can find 10 who have no regrets. So don't worry. Just do what you know you're supposed to do. Stay in contact with your doc. Call him/her if you have any problems. And you'll be fine :)

And keep hanging out in this forum- I'm really more of a lurker but the people in here are always AWESOME! :-)
